Wu Huai-chung wants to be a filmmaker but he can only find a part-time projectionist job. Chie runs away from her new role to a southern city Kaohsiung from Taipei. As soon as she begins her one-day excursion, she loses her purse. Huai-chung helps her by offering her five hundred Taiwan dollars. She refuses first. Huai-chung has a crush on the lovely Chie. He believes what has happened between him and Chie is all destined. He asks her to write down her name and phone number on the bill. If there is a meaning for their encounter, the bill will eventually come back to him. Chie accepts the money but excuses her soon after. Incidentally, they run into each other again and again in course of the day in different part of the city. Gradually Chie begins to feel something precious, like friendship, is happening between them. The night falls. They feel closer to each other. But it’s time to say goodbye. Will the five hundred dollar bill come back to Huai-chung? Will Chie accept Huai-chung’s invitation to stay longer? They know their time is running out.
